Some of you will be concerned about what to do with your aircraft when you can’t get to it and can’t fly it.
I’ve discussed this with our maintenance organisation. They say that the best thing to do is to leave it alone for the time being. The very worst thing to do is to turn over the prop without firing it up or ground run the engine without flying it. All this does is to break the oil seal that has developed and allow corrosion on to the bare parts or in the case of a ground run, just get it warm enough to allow the corrosion to accelerate. If the restrictions are likely to be in place for some time, our maintenance organisation will be investing in the equipment and materials to be able to inhibit the aircraft. More details to follow when the time comes.
